He has a strong passion for sensory integration and play-based therapy, and is committed to helping children navigate sensory and developmental challenges in a way that is meaningful, empowering, and fun.
About Us
Meet Ellen Connolly
Paediatric Occupational Therapist
Ellen is a Paediatric Occupational Therapist and a valued member of the Roots team, dedicated to helping children build the skills they need for independence and confidence. Originally from Ireland, Ellen completed her studies at Ulster University and gained clinical experience through placements in stroke rehabilitation and paediatric neurological rehabilitation.
Ellen has worked with children of varying abilities, supporting their development across emotional regulation, sensory processing, fine and gross motor skills, and everyday functional tasks. She has a strong interest in sensory processing and enjoys supporting children to better understand and respond to their sensory needs.
She is particularly passionate about building strong, trusting relationships with families and creating a supportive environment where children feel understood and empowered. Her approach to therapy focuses on helping children regulate, engage, and develop skills in a way that is practical, meaningful, and tailored to each child’s unique needs.
Our mission is to empower children to grow in confidence and independence by building strong foundational skills through movement, play, and meaningful connections.
“When children are given the right support, they don’t just grow - they thrive.”
— Jaden, Founder of Roots Occupational Therapy
